Self Improvement Tip of the Day: Leaders Grow And Are Made, Not Born

It has been said that leaders are born, not made, but is that really true? There's no doubt that different people are born with different natural skills and aptitudes, so some people may naturally be better at leadership.

Some people are born into families or environments that encourage and prepare them for leadership. However, environment alone does not guarantee that anyone will become a good leader. In some cases it will even do just the opposite as many people resent being forced down a path they don't want to go down.

Anyone that comes from an environment that encourages leadership will also have to want to want to develop leadership skills and be prepared to work at it.

Even supposedly natural leaders can't just rely on the gifts they were born with, they too will have to continue to develop their skills.
