Self Improvement Tip of the Day: Don't Interrupt People

Self Improvement Tip of the Day: Don't Interrupt People

When listening to people don’t rush them or be quick to reach conclusions too quickly. It can be easy to stop listening and interrupt when you hear something that strikes a chord. Practice listening without interrupting, you may well pick information that you weren't expecting that may change your first impressions. Give people the chance to finish and don't rush them.

Another common inhibitor to effective communication can be thinking about your response while others are still talking. This can mean missing a lot of what is being said due to not paying proper attention. Some people do this because they may not want to be seen as slow or rude if they don't answer soon after the other person finishes.

To be continued….

'The greatest compliment that was ever paid me was when one asked me what I thought, and attended to my answer.' - Henry David Thoreau
